Professional Wear @ New Tech

I haven't exactly gotten to wear a "first day of school" outfit yet, but I will blog about it once I do! For the past 3 days, I have worn professional wear because I have been facilitating the Rookies in their first week projects.

My senior overalls are coming along!! I should be finishing them tomorrow since it's game day on Friday (or do we only wear them on home game days? I don't even know).

Last but not least, I have two very fantastic videos to share with everyone:

Local Diner Music Video - from Verdugo Zrouse. These guys are Gavin's and my friends, one of whom works at the Local Diner here in Coppell.

Lighing Experimentation Music Video (Santigold) - from Aliya Haq; starring Sofia Romero, Chloe Bennett, Sophia Haq and Sarah Clarke. These are some super talented girls from North Hills!

Simplistic Black & Maroon

This was my outfit (after work, again) today. After being in my uniform all week, I like to just go all out. My hair is finally long enough for me to put it up in the two buns. This adorable dress is from my friend, Brooklyn! The tights are from Forever 21. And the shoes are from 7th grade... :'D

Work was crazy hard this week from all the prep for our anniversary celebrations at Zenzero, but it's all done now! Now it's time to start senior year.
I will post my first week's school outfits this week (I have to wear professional dress on some days for leadership reasons, so I will probably post several).

Last Week of Summer!

Senior year is almost here! I went to this Senior Planning meeting yesterday and am so pumped to experience and soak up all of it.
I am blogging from the Omni Hotel in Austin, TX, as my mom and I are college visiting UT! That'll be tomorrow.

Here are a couple pictures from the past week!

While Mr. and Mrs. Pugh were out of town, I thought it would be nice to relieve Gavin and his brother, Corbin, of their responsibility to feed themselves, so I tested the new cookbook that I got from Finland, Kotiruoka. It is so amazing!! It has amazing and quite simple Scandinavian recipes, including everything from cooking techniques to how to set your table for specific occasions. Below is a photo of Gavin trying out the veggie patties (with mushrooms and brown rice) that I made, and may I say, they were the best veggie patties I've ever had.

And I finally did my nails to let them grow out! I gave them a little late summer look. (Super easy nail tip: If you're not the nail artist, just use stickers and clear top coating! Really cute.)

I've also been working a lot and saving all the money I earn for next year's ticket to Finland. It's quite likely that Gavin will be tagging along with me!!! :D

I also went to schedule pick up earlier this week! For the first time in high school, I got to have a lot of say in the classes that I took. Here are the classes that I'm taking: Dual Credit Sociology, AP English, AP Biology, Photography, LLC, AP Statistics, and Dual Credit Art Appreciation. Such cool classes!

I got this book, Child Psychology, for just $10 to get more familiar with what I'm getting myself into with my major.

For Rookie Camp, my job was to work at the Question station, and the theme of the camp was the beach. So, I made the question box to be sort of like a sand castle! It was a fun little project. I somehow managed to make a hole in the wood of the base of the castle with a drill and a knife...

Yesterday, Gavin and I went shopping for him, and I have to post this picture of him trying on a trench coat because he looks so good in it! He bought a couple pairs of pants and some tea for his mom.

I love us.
Then, we went to Odd Fellows to study, and I finally took my first step in my college application process by finalizing my resume! So exciting!

Now here we are in Austin. We had a very nice dinner at the Driskill Hotel, and I am so excited to visit UT along with some awesome food places around there.

Tomorrow, I'll post a picture of the cute, easy outfit that I'm wearing to the UT Austin visit.

Back in Dallas!

I'm writing this post from Zenzero, and it's good to be back!
At the beginning of the summer, which feels like just a couple weeks ago, I came up with a plan where every other day I would alternate between working on college stuff and SAT/ACT practice. I started out okay, but then I realized that applications weren't available until August, and the things that I could work on beforehand, such as my resume, was already complete. So along with working 30 hours a week, that was the end of that. But now, it's August! So I'm finally getting down to business.

On Saturday, when I got back, Gavin set up an amazing surprise dinner for me. I wish I had taken a picture, but it's fine because that just goes to show how I was so overwhelmingly grateful for him and his acts of honor that I didn't even think about stopping and snapping a quick picture.
After dinner, we drove to Dallas, walked around Mockingbird Station, and checked out Crooked Tree (photo below), which gets their best baked delicacies from Zenzero.

Yesterday was full of fun! Gavin, Daniel, and I, went to swim with Alexandra. Afterwards, Alexandra had to take a nap, so Gavin and I went to have lunch at Sushi Yaa in Highland Village. It's a great sushi buffet that I have been to twice now! For $10 per person, you can get all sorts of different kinds of sushi and sides, such as their awesome dumplings. With Gavin having a shellfish allergy (maybe shellfish?), I was really stressing out about what he ate, but nothing happened, so that was good! He's still got to go to the allergy doctor, though. Then we went to his house, watched Adventure Time, went to church, rented Slumdog Millionaire, bought ice cream, and watched the movie at my house.
I had such a great weekend with my best friend, and it really made me so glad to be home. (:

P.S. I will be blogging about my Finnish purchases soon!

Back-to-School/Autumn Wishlist

I love hunting... Really, it's true. Hunting for clothes! I'm not too into the animal kind of hunting, but I love getting inspired by something, such as a color scheme or a pair of shoes, and then snooping around for the perfect kind. For example, I've been trying to find the right trench coat for the past year or two now, trying on several kinds of several different shades at several different stores, but I can't find one that really fits me the way that I would like it to. I'm positive that it's because I'm short and the colors often clash with my skin or hair. Of course, Emma Watson presented a solution.

This trench-coat styled, caramel-colored coat is adorable. It's long enough to cover past your torso and keep you warm, but short enough to keep your legs from looking extra stumpy.
I would still like a trench coat to wear with dresses and such, but I don't know if it's going to happen.
Of course, Emma pulls off both kinds.

I did buy a jacket today, which I will blog about later, and almost bought a second one. Thank goodness the second one didn't sit the way I would've liked it to because otherwise I would've bought two European jackets in one day, and that's going a little far for me trying to be more of a penny-pincher.
In my last post, I talked about my first shopping tip being "Know what you're looking for." So here's what my latest wishlist, also the list of items that I hunt for while I shop, looks like.

A leather-sleeved jacket like this one

Maxi dress, also hard to fit to my body type

"Senior Overalls"

I tried this shirt on at Gina Tricot, and it was adorable. However it wasn't tight enough around the waist, so I left it. But it's so cute, and I don't have any gray shirts, so I might go back for it... We'll see.
